The Benton Charter Township Police Records Department is located at the front southwest lobby door on Territorial Road. Our business office hours are from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. After-hours need for an officer can be addressed by the use of the outside contact button located at the door at the front west end of the building. Any message for the records department after hours can be left through the telephone system, extension #4, and will be forwarded to the records office the following morning. During our business hours we can supply the public with copies of accident reports and with other reports as needed for insurance or personal purposes. Reports of incidents other than traffic accidents will require a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA); FOIA request forms are available at the office between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM or can be accessed on-line; see links below. These forms may be presented to the records department in person, email or by mail. If requester wants the information mailed to them, the request will be completed when payment is received (if applicable). Any requests for reports that are currently open or active investigations may or may not be immediately available, depending on the nature of the complaint (i.e. open pending trial, etc). See the chart below for current fees.
The Records office doors are closed on Monday's, but personnel in the Records office can be reached by phone. Please follow the message prompts. (269) 926-8221
